PinnPACK to manufacture and distribute DeLight's foodservice trays in North America

PKBR Staff Writer Published 08 December 2017

US-based thermoforming manufacture and sustainable food packaging provider PinnPACK has acquired the rights as the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of DeLight's hybrid foodservice trays in North America.

Under the partnership, PinnPACK will distribute the dual ovenable hybrid tray, which is manufactured using renewable paper sources and enhanced with plastic polymers, in North American markets.

Designed to provide improved sealability and functionality, the DeLight’s tray is claimed to be the first Modified Atmosphere Packaging paper-based tray.

The tray’s barrier properties allow it to withstand microwave, conventional oven and freezer applications.

PinnPACK division director Jason Farahnik said: "Our customer base is extremely excited about this offering. Beyond the fact that this expands our portfolio, allowing us the ability to become a full-spectrum provider of food packaging, we are now helping our customers differentiate themselves from the commoditized Crystallized PET (CPET) and Polypropylene (PP) trays."

Farahnik added that the DeLight trays will allow customers to reduce their overall packaging requirements.

Additionally, the tray eliminates the need for carton sleeves and boxes as it allows printing of high-quality images directly on it.

A subsidiary of CarbonLITE, PinnPACK is engaged in manufacturing packaging products, including thermoformed PET plastic containers to the bakery, produce, confectionery, deli, and fast-food industries.

The firm also manufactures food packaging using PET/rPET plastic material, which is said to be one of the most commonly recycled materials in the industry.
