Parkside develops compostable wrapper for Nobó’s new range of chocolate

PKBR Staff Writer Published 12 December 2017

Speciality packaging solutions provider Parkside has developed a compostable wrapper for Irish food brand Nobó’s new range of chocolate.

Nobó has introduced a range of plant-based and milk style chocolate, which is the firm’s first product range outside the frozen food category.

Parkside used plant-based materials and compostable film laminate to produce a wrapper for the new chocolate range.

Parkside NPD and innovation head Phil O’Driscoll said: “We worked closely with Nobó to create a pack that reflected the company’s emphasis on guilt-free indulgence.

“The Choc discs are made with sustainable plant based ingredients and are free from dairy, gluten, refined sugar and artificial additives, so the wrapper needed to be as good to the environment as the product is to the body.”

Nobó pack is a triple layer structure that is composed of NatureFlex paper and bio polymer sealant web, as well as includes bio-based materials such as wood-pulp and corn starch.

The company has used an advanced print technology to produce a range of bright colours and fine elements.

Parkside has taken the support of Hamillroad to deploy Bellissima advanced digitally modulated screening technology for the adjustment of every pixel.

In addition, Parkside provides its compostable pack for ethical food brand Rhythm 108 – Ooh-la- la tea biscuits.

In September this year, Parkside deployed Hamillroad Software’s new screening technology to enhance the print quality.

The company is using Hamillroad Software’s Bellissima digitally modulated screening (DMS) on its wide web flexibles press.

Parkside offers packaging solutions to the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and medical, personal and household care markets.

Parkside solutions include flexo printing, specialist laminating, laser scribing, and smart packaging. It also offers security technology and compostable solutions.
