Middleby acquires CVP Systems

US based industrial process equipment firm The Middleby Corporation has acquired CVP Systems, which manufacturers high-speed packaging systems for the meat processing industry, for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Downers Grove, Illinois, US, CVP Systems has about $20m in annual revenues.

The Middleby Corporation develops, manufactures, markets and services various equipments that is used by the commercial foodservice, food processing, and residential kitchen equipment industries.

The Middleby Corporation chairman and CEO Selim Bassoul said: “CVP Systems is a world leader in Modified Atmosphere Packaging, a highly innovative packaging technology that extends the shelf life of food through removing air and introducing a more beneficial environment during packaging.

“The addition of CVP further deepens the capabilities of our food processing group with a highly complementary technology to our product portfolio.

“With this acquisition we add a highly respected brand and continue to strengthen the portfolio of comprehensive solutions that we offer our customers in the food processing industry.”

Prior to the acquisition of CVP Systems, Middleby had acquired Sveba Dahlen Group, a Sweden based developer and manufacturer of ovens and baking equipment for the commercial foodservice and industrial baking industries. The deal will add $60m in annual sales.

Previously, Middleby took over Burford Corporation, a Oklahoma based manufacturer of industrial baking equipment.

Burford, having annual revenues of $15m, also provides seed topping applicators, pan oiling and glazing equipment, splitting and dough imprinting equipment, bag closing machines and pan shakers.
